Hi boos and ghouls, it’s the Halloween month! I hope you’ve been reading the Monster High comics…? They’re excellent, btw. Now, during the monster mash of all seasons is the best time to start! New Scaremester vol. 2 just came out, as well as the first two issues of two brand new series: House Haunters and World’s Scare!
As we move forward after the absolute mess that was the cancellation of the top-tier Red Hood series (after only one issue mind you – and all because Gretchen Felker-Martin didn’t GAF about a dead nazi – shame on you, DC) we want to remind people that there are a lot of other publishers out there producing fun and gay comics. Any great works by DC and Marvel are in spite of the conglomerates, not because of them.
We will continue to support the queer and trans creators who write and get art published for these publishers but it is a horrifying development that DC has set by firing Gretchen for free speech on her socials.
As we persist despite all the horrors, here is our schedule for October. Please note, we will have a few different hours for Oct. 11-20 as I will be out of town and some people will be in helping out. There will be only one Babes Who Book (4th Monday) and Oct. 13 + 20 will have early closures (6pm) – if you have any questions, please call the store before you go in.

Saturday, Oct. 11 @ 1-4pm: Letter Writing with Flying Over Walls, Bay Area. They will be joining us from 1-4pm so come on down and write a birthday card to one of our queer/trans incarcerated comrades! (supplies provided)

Mon., Oct. 27 @ 6:30pm: Babes Who Book! This will be the only October meeting. Come thru and tell us what you’ve been reading, recently finished or are currently reading! Attendees get 10% off graphic novels, books & manga.
