Saturday, August 12 from 1-4 pm: Letter Writing with Flying Over Walls, Bay Area. They will be joining us from 1-4pm so come on down and write a birthday card to one of our queer/trans incarcerated comrades! (supplies provided) – be sure to also check out the graphic novels, zines, and books from A.B.O Comix! ABO Comix is a publisher that works with incarcerated queer/trans comrades and produces their art, writings, etc – all profits go to supporting the prisoners. Read more here.
Wednesday, August 23 @ 5:30 pm: Mission Mini Comix! Swing through and join the Mini Comix crew in a little sketch sesh. You can draw a panel for them or just hang out and do your own thing. No registration required.
Thursday, August 24 from 6:00-7:30 pm: Manga Book Club! We are trying something new this month… !! Have you ever been interested in manga but don’t know where to start? Thinking of starting a series or reading something but not sure if it’s right for you? In this book club we will be exploring different manga titles, including one-offs and number one’s of series as an effort to expand people’s understanding of the medium. Or also simply to enjoy the medium as many of us who have been enjoying manga for many years can get together and talk about what we love or don’t love about certain books! We are going to start with a slice of life yuri manga called “The Two of Them Are Pretty Much Like This” – please register on Eventbrite if you can as I will be providing light refreshments! (tea and cookies)
Saturday, August 26 from 6-8 pm: END OF SUMMER ART EXPO & POP-UP! Join us for this two hour reception celebrating all new art on the walls of the shop! Artists will be in attendance and there will be a few artists in the shop set up to sell their art, prints, stickers & more!
