fun stuff: FEBRUARY!

We have a fun lineup for February this year, and as it is also Black History Month, you will see even more highlights of amazing comics, graphic novels and books from Black creators featuring Black characters. If you haven’t yet, check out both last year & this year’s DC Power which features amazing short stories from DC’s Black Superheroes and Milestone initiative creators.

Also, if you want to support Black owned business this month, check out Maya’s Magic Shop! Maya is an artist, singer/songwriter and talented witch who (mostly) uses her powers for good. She makes her own candles and we sell them for her in the space she holds in our shop. Check out her new candle + spell bundles, her bestselling penis + vulva candles and her vintage clothing assortment.

Thurs., Feb. 1 @ 6pm: Queer Crafting/DIY Night! Space is limited so be sure to register on Eventbrite. (As of posting this, it looks like it’s sold out already?! Reminder that if you sign up and you can’t make it, PLEASE cancel your ticket so that someone else can attend!)

Saturday, Feb. 3 @ 1-4pm: Letter Writing with Flying Over Walls, Bay Area. Yes, usually this is every 2nd Saturday but something came up so they will be meeting the first Saturday this month! They will be joining us from 1-4pm so come on down and write a birthday card to one of our queer/trans incarcerated comrades! (supplies provided) – be sure to also check out the graphic novels, zines, and books from A.B.O Comix! ABO Comix is a publisher that works with incarcerated queer/trans comrades and produces their art, writings, etc – all profits go to supporting the prisoners. Read more here.

FEB. 5-9: HALF OFF ALL SHORTBOXED COMICS!!!!! This sale will run during the week. Hours: Monday 11-8, Tues 6:30-8, Weds: 11-8, Thurs: 11-7, Fri: 11-7

Tuesday, Feb. 6 @ 6:30pm: Non-Fiction workshop – Love letters! Write love letters with us to your partner(s), loved ones, family, or yourself! We will work through some non-fiction related exercises as well. Please register on Eventbrite.

Weds., Feb. 7 @ 6pm: Zine-Making for March Ballot Measures! Learn more about the props and measures on the ballot in March and make some zines with us. We will have some info sessions with campaigners for/against the measures that are up in March. The goal is to come up with some zines that we can print a lot of and hand out to our friends, family and whoever else to try and get people to vote in the March election! (Registration not required, but there is an Eventbrite listing if you’d like to check it out.

Monday, Feb. 12 @ 6:30pm: Babes who Book! We are back to a regular 2nd & 4th Monday schedule. (The second one of the month will be on Feb. 26 at the same time.) Let’s talk about what we’re reading! Attendees get 10% off all purchases.

Tuesday, Feb. 20 @ 7pm: Manga Book Club; My Dress-Up Darling vol. 1. Join us for a discussion on the first volume of the popular series “My Dress-Up Darling” – Eventbrite listing (registration not required).

Wednesday, Feb. 21 @ 6pm: Mission Mini Comix! Collaborative zine making and draw sesh with the MMC crew. Register on Eventbrite.

Wednesday, Feb. 28 @ 6:30pm: 18+ Erotica Workshop with Natalie Sierra. This is a fantastic workshop for writers and aspiring writers of erotica! Published erotica author Natalie Sierra takes you through the mindset and tips in crafting your erotic stories. Tickets on Eventbrite.

Thursday, Feb. 29 @ 5-8pm: GAY GUNDAM NIGHT! Tentative
