MARCH: month of rest!

Hi everyone~ as I mentioned in my last post, I have surgery scheduled for this week and as a result, we are going to have a few less events this month while I recover. In the last post I outlined some temporary updates to the hours during this time while Vinnie and Juli hold the fort down. We will continue to be closed on both Tuesdays and Thursdays through March (it is possible these will become new permanent hours with occasional one-offs where we will be open for events or randomly perhaps something else) and some regular events are cancelled.

Saturday, March 8 from 1-4pm: Letter Writing with Flying Over Walls, Bay Area. They will be joining us from 1-4pm so come on down and write a birthday card to one of our queer/trans incarcerated comrades! (supplies provided) – be sure to also check out the graphic novels, zines, and books from A.B.O Comix! ABO Comix is a publisher that works with incarcerated queer/trans comrades and produces their art, writings, etc – all profits go to supporting the prisoners. Read more here.

Mon., March 24 @ 6:30pm: Babes Who Book! This is the only March meeting. Attendees get 10% off books/graphic novels! Tell us about what you’re reading, or what you’re excited about reading.. !

Weds., March 26 @ 5-8pm: GAY GUNDAM NIGHT! Bring your own gunpla. Sign up on Eventbrite to secure a spot.

Sat., March 29 @ 3-5:30pm: tea 4 T party! Join us for this fundraiser to put money on the books of incarcerated trans women who are being discriminated against in an already harsh and unjust system. We are hosting this very special “TEA 4 T PARTY” to help raise funds for incarcerated trans women and we hope you will join us in this endeavor! A full price ticket is $15 and includes all the tea you could want plus snacks and a little sticker as a treat. We also have other pricing options to help throw some money on their books, starting at just $2 for nifty vintage postcards that we are selling to help raise these funds!

If you can’t afford to financially contribute, you can still show up and hang out, better yet if you write a postcard to one of our incarcerated fam. Come by to drink a cuppa and learn about what our queer and trans siblings are experiencing in the prison industrial complex, and how we can help.

Tickets and postcards can be purchased in-store. Please bring cash if you are donating the $2 for a postcard!

Co-presented with Flying Over Walls.
