Hi everyone! If you’ve been attending some of our events or aware of our events / follow us on Eventbrite, you might be at least somewhat vaguely aware that we have a Manga Book Club that meets every other month. At this evening’s book club we picked the next FIVE books (we picked all of the books through December!) and you can see how it played out in the photos below.
Folks who attended tonight’s book club got to submit up to 3 books (manga – must be a volume 1 or a one-shot) for voting and we all used tiny slips of paper to cast our votes on the books. The last round ended up in a tie so we decided to go with all five.
Tonight we discussed Inside Mari vol. 1 which is a bodysnatching/supernatural mystery themed manga with some complicated undertones relating to gender. We had a riveting discussion and it was amazing to see everyone again since our last book club. I agreed that sometimes we want to talk about some of the books more, and especially when they have follow-up volumes, so I made a discord server at the suggestion of tonight’s book club participants.
