Hey all! We have a great lineup this month – please look forward to our Artists 4 Palestine! Fundraiser on March 23 where we’ll host a handful of artists in the space, who will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Care for Gaza, PCRF, UNWRA and Red Crescent. All purchases made will have a minimum $5 donation added that will come with a free sticker! (You can choose to donate more if you want!)
We will also be hosting the party for the STAMP RALLY! You’ve all been collecting your stamps all month and now it’s the time you’ve all been waiting for… the Live Prize Drawing will be on March 2nd! Wahoo!!! Ok here’s the official schedule:
March 2 @ 5-8pm: Stamp Rally Party with SPECIAL GUEST Jessica Fong! She will be joining us for this cute party to sign comics – she will also have prints and other fun stuff featuring her original work and the covers she has done for the Poison Ivy series. Hopefully everyone has been collecting their stamps from us, Super7, Mission Comics and Silver Sprocket – if you have, make sure you leave your name + phone with the last place you got your stamp. We will be collecting them and doing the LIVE DRAWING for the epic prizes at this party! Yay!
Thursday, March 7 @ 6-7:30pm: Queer Crafting / DIY Night! Bring your own crafts. Reserve your spot on Eventbrite (free) as space is limited. ** If you can’t make it, please be sure to cancel your ticket to give the space to someone else! **
Saturday, March 9 @ 1-4pm: Letter Writing with Flying Over Walls, Bay Area. They will be joining us from 1-4pm so come on down and write a birthday card to one of our queer/trans incarcerated comrades! (supplies provided) – be sure to also check out the graphic novels, zines, and books from A.B.O Comix! ABO Comix is a publisher that works with incarcerated queer/trans comrades and produces their art, writings, etc – all profits go to supporting the prisoners. Read more here.
Tuesday, March 12 @ 6:30pm: Non-Fiction Workshop – Journaling & using your power of imagination to process the day to day. Reserve a spot on Eventbrite (free) as space is limited.
Wednesday, March 20 @ 5:30 – 7:30pm: Mission Mini Comix! Get your draw on! Join us in the shop for a collaborative zine-making group, zine share meetup, or casual draw jam.
Saturday, March 23 @ 6-9pm: Artists 4 Palestine Fundraiser event! Please join us in raising funds for Palestinian charities such as Care for Gaza, PCRF, UNWRA and the Red Crescent by purchasing art and books from our store. Vendors will put a portion of their sales to these charities and any sales you make at the register will have an automatic minimum $5 donation added – and you get a free sticker! If you want to donate $15+ you get a free sticker pack.
Wednesday, March 27 from 5-8pm: GAY GUNDAM NIGHT! Bring your own gunpla or choose from our (limited) selection. Space is limited, RSVP on Eventbrite.
March 30 – ALL DAY! COMICS FEST! We are teaming up with Silver Sprocket, Mission Comics and Super7 again at the end of the month to make a whole day out of visiting all of our lovely stores and enjoying the various activities that we have planned. Here at Sour Cherry, we will be hosting 3 incredible artists who have fun events planned for you all day! Comics Drawing Games, Teeny Tiny Zine Library & Zine Swap, and an Activism Sign-Making workshop! Stay tuned for more info & registration.
MARCH 30 activities have been POSTPONED! Please look forward to our next big event – SOUR CHERRY CON – the first weekend of May where we will be hosting some of these activities as well as other fun things. Our third annual SOUR CHERRY CON will be May 4th & 5th, for Free Comic Book Day weekend. We will host fun activities on the 4th (along with free comics available), and an artist alley on May 5th!
April is going to be a quiet month with a little more time for planned rest, so please look forward to Sour Cherry Con in May!
