fun stuff: JULY

Happy Summer babes! Have you checked out the new comics on the shelf? DC has been killing it lately – if you didn’t pick up DC Pride last month, there’s still time. The introduction of their new trans masc superhero, Circuit Breaker, was probably my favorite story. Written and drawn by artist AL Kaplan! His art is incredible and the character design is amazing. Seriously – check it out! And the tribute to Rachel Pollack at the end is truly beautiful. Jadzia Axelrod (writer of Galaxy: The Prettiest Star and Hawkgirl – #1 hitting shelves this month!) ends the tribute on a personal note, describing how Rachel’s character Kate Godwin, an unapologetically trans lesbian character and the very first of her kind, paved the way for her own trans superhero as well as opened the doors for her discovering her own identity.

Thursday, July 6 from 6-8pm: Sewing night! Bring your own projects. We have some thread and needles if you need to borrow anything.

Saturday, July 8, 1-4 pm – Black & Pink Letter Writing with Flying Over Walls, Bay Area.  They will be joining us from 1-4pm so come on down and write a birthday card to one of our queer/trans incarcerated comrades! (supplies provided) – be sure to also check out the graphic novels, zines, and books from A.B.O Comix! ABO Comix is a publisher that works with incarcerated queer/trans comrades and produces their art, writings, etc – all profits go to supporting the prisoners. Read more here.

Tuesday, July 25 from 5-9 pm: Summer DIY Night! Join us in the shop to work on craft projects. Remember GAY GUNDAM night from last month? You can bring your Gundam or miniature builds, or any craft projects you might be working on.
