It’s that time again…! This month we are celebrating Sour Cherry’s one-year anniversary. I hope you’re as excited as we are..! March 1st represents the anniversary of our soft open and March 12th is the anniversary of our open and first art show. We will have a little party on Sunday, March 12 with raffles, fun prizes and all that manga we meant to put on sale last month (whoops!)
Thursday, March 2 @ 6pm: Sewing night! Bring your own sewing projects. Some supplies included.
Sunday, March 5 @ 7pm: All-Genre Writing Group at Silver Sprocket 1018 Valencia St. This is a shut up and write! session with timed writing and optional prompts. There will be some opportunity to share if desired.
Wednesday, March 8 from 4-8pm: Mission Mini Comix! This is a chill zine making group where you can hang out and draw in the back and the organizers can help if you have any questions about making zines or mini comics.
Friday, March 10 from 6-8pm: “Make The Golf Course a Public Sex Forest!” Book Launch & Reading – masks required.
Saturday, March 11 from 1-4pm: Black & Pink Letter Writing with Flying Over Walls, Bay Area. They will be joining us from 1-4pm so come on down and write a birthday card to one of our queer/trans incarcerated comrades! (supplies provided) – be sure to also check out the graphic novels, zines, and books from A.B.O Comix! ABO Comix is a publisher that works with incarcerated queer/trans comrades and produces their art, writings, etc – all profits go to supporting the prisoners. Read more here.
Sunday, March 12 from 2-5pm: ONE YEAR PARTY! Two hours of cuteness and fun – we’ll have a little cake, juice and a raffle. We also will have some exciting ticket options (tiny totes are coming back – limited edition baby cherries) and other fun stuff. Celebrate our one year of being open as a brick and mortar gay comic shop in the city with us! RAFFLE DRAW @ 5 PM Reserve a mystery goody bag on eventbrite!
Tuesday, March 14 at 6:30pm: Creative Non-Fiction Writing Workshop! We will get back to basics this month and do some recollection and memory exercises. CANCELLED due to bad weather and host feeling unwell
Thursday, March 16 at 6:00pm: Surrealist Zine Making is back! Please RSVP on Eventbrite ticket price includes supplies.
Wednesday, March 22 at 6:30pm: 18+ Erotic Writing Workshop with Natalie Sierra. If you have missed her in the past, now’s your chance! Natalie provides a comfortable environment to explore the intimate details of writing erotica. She has been teaching this workshop since April of 2022 and is the author of Charlie Forever and Ever, as well as several books of poetry, including Medusa. Tickets for the workshop are available on Eventbrite.
Saturday, March 25 from 3-7pm: Girl Scout Cookie Booth pop-up!
