This is obscenely late. I have no excuses. Here’s what I read last month:

I really liked this one – it’s on the same vein as “Artemis: Wanted” where it’s basically a one-shot from the Amazon world. I love anything Wonder Woman related and it’s easy to understand without any real background / context from the current Wonder Woman DC stories.

Big fan of Wonder Girl so of course I read this one. She’s a baddie! This is a fun one-shot annual that I definitely recommend picking up.

This one fucked me up big time! I had been told I need to read this by multiple friends and customers so I finally sat down and read it. It’s definitely his most disturbing work, and honestly not quite my favorite. I prefer Junji It’s original works (this is from Osamu Dazai’s last work) – his unique stuff tends to be a little more darkly whimsical, where this one was just.. dark. That said, it is really good and if you like horror, it’s worth checking out.

I am curious where this one will go, and will probably read #2 because I like sci-fi stories and the writing is pretty good. I don’t love the main character, though. Kind of boring/annoying dude.

I love Natalie’s first M33 comic, and I can’t wait to see the second issue. The art is beautiful and the love story is sweet & sapphic. Definitely recommend checking out this comic from local artist, Natalie McKean~

Easily one of the most ridiculous yuri stories I’ve seen in a minute. If you like horny nun x vampire stories, it’s worth checking out.

Absolutely hilarious! Really gives milennial Betty & Veronica vibes, for an older crowd, and a lot raunchier.

I found this little zine in Alley Cat books and thought it was pretty cute. I have exactly one copy in the store. It’s about a guy who is a professional gofer and gets hired by some bored rich kid. Lol.

Cute zine. I picked this up from Silver Sprocket on my day off. I love Gemma’s work and have enjoyed her pieces in the Nib and elsewhere.

This book was really fun and a quick YA read. It’s a genre I will call “sapphic supernatural” (trademark: mine, loljk jk) and hit a bit close to home with the main character being in love with her best friend. Though her friend actually likes girls, so, that’s a win for her I guess. If I were to relive my high school experience as something I might have actually enjoyed, I would want it to be the contents of this book.

I. Love. This. Book. So you know I’m a fan of short story anthologies, right? (Well if you didn’t, now you do.) It’s also VERY gay, VERY trans, and VERY much all of the genres that I love: sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian, horror… Yes. So much yes to this book. Margaret also came to the store to run a short fiction workshop that was amazing and I saved all my notes so if you missed it, no worries, just come to one of the writing groups and you’ll get a lot of the info there.

I thoroughly enjoyed this comic, and though I am very out of the loop on Marvel storylines, I found it easy enough to follow along as it seemed mostly about the three girls (Jubilee, Dazzler and Boom Boom), having a girls night after Dazzler broke up with her lame boyfriend. That said, I imagine there will be some other plotlines that include perhaps creatures from the MCU that I am less familiar with. Either way, it’s cute + fun and I’m enjoying the writing & art.

I included a #2 on this one because I LOVE where this is going and I think the storytelling is really strong! If you’re not a single issue comic fan, I’d recommend keeping an eye out for this when it comes out in paperback.

I also included a #4 here because Poison Ivy is probably one of THE best series on the shelf right now, especially if you’re looking at Marvel/DC and I think that this issue especially is fantastic. There’s a lot of spot-on social commentary and uhhhh Pamela is extra gay and sexy in this one.

This is cute!! It’s an enemies to lovers BL and I definitely recommend it if you like slice of life office enemies to lovers as a genre.

Honestly had no clue what all was happening in this but it was cute + fun and you know I love a deranged woman so maybe all that chaos was the point? Not sure.
Okay that’s it from me! Sorry for the tardiness, it will probably happen again. Thanks for reading!
